***TECHNOLOGY UPDATE: Phishing Scam! WARNING!***

WARNING: An email phishing scam is currently circulating GW email addresses disguised as official correspondence from The George Washington University titled "RESPOND WITH IMMEDATE EFFECT !!!" or "Banner System Activation 2011/2012".

This is a reminder that you should NEVER reply to email messages asking for personal information, even if it is security related. No such e-mail will EVER come from GW or the Division of Information Technology asking users to reply with information such as NetID, password, birth date, social security number, GWid number, etc.

Report the email as 'phishing' by clicking on the downward arrow next to 'Reply' within the email, and then selecting 'Report Phishing'.

If you have already responded to a phishing email please immediately reset your password by logging into the Account Management Tool at https://identity.gwu.edu. If you have any questions, concerns or to validate the source of a message, please contact the IT Support Center at 202-994-GWIT (4948).

GWdocuments Upcoming Planned Outages

What: GWdocuments planned outages

When: There will be two outage windows over 2 weekends which are as follows:

1. Friday, Jan 27th starting at 6 PM - 8 AM Saturday morning **
2. Friday, Feb 3rd starting at 6 PM - 8 AM Saturday morning **

** There may be a few minor interruptions on Saturday and Sunday

Who is Affected: All users of GWdocuments

Purpose: Upgrade to the latest Documentum service pack and finalize server configuration for high availability.

Impact to users: GWdocuments will be unavailable during the upgrade windows mentioned above. Users should be able to access GWdocuments all day Saturday and Sunday on those 2 weekends with the possibility of a few minor interruptions.

The GW Account Center provides information on requesting access to or termination of GW account based systems and services.

GWID

Use your GWID to access multiple resources including student transcripts, the University Time and Reporting System; faculty and staff benefit selection, and much more.

If you have forgotten the PIN associated with your GWID you can reset it yourself here using the “Forgot PIN?” button.

NetIDs

Faculty, staff and student NetIDs will be the username used to login to various GW systems (e-mail, GW portal, and Blackboard). Once assigned, your NetID may not be changed.
